Özet: Turkmen literature, as a part of Turkish literature, plays an important and significant role in the common Turkish culture and literature. Tales termed as folk tales in Turkish oral folk literature, are expressed by the term "destan" in the field of Turkmen storytelling. Although the terms are different, the content in the narrative is similar. The Turkish nation had deep respect and love for Prophet Ali and reflected their deep feelings in oral and written cultural materials. In the folktales of Nurmahammad Garib Andalib, one of the important classical poets of Turkmens, his respect and love for Prophet Ali is clearly seen. Nurmahammad Andalib's story entitled “Zeynal Arab” has the mentioned characteristics. Nurmuhammad Andalıb is an important name in the epic tradition of 18th Century (1710-1767) Turkmen literature. In this study, information has been provided about Andalib’s life, literary identity and works, the role of Prophet Ali in the Turkish-Islamic culture in the work entitled “Zeynal Arab” has been mentioned. After giving information about the form and style characteristics of the story “Zeynal Arab”, the motifs of the epos are shown with examples.
