Özet: Viral infections lead significant modifications in the total gene expression profile of the cell. Viruses have developed several ways to combat the immune system and increase their replication. In infected cells, the virus can be used to increase replication; while the host develops strategies to defend. In recent years, it has been shown that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), in infected cells, plays an important role in the virus host relationship. Most of human genome is composed of RNAs that do not encode proteins. Non-coding RNAs are classified according to the number of nucleotides. Long non-coding RNAs are functional RNA molecules that are generally longer than 200 nucleotides and do not have protein coding capacity. It is known that some long non-coding RNAs interact with proteins, DNA, or other RNAs to perform regulatory functions after transcription. Many long non-coding RNAs, has been implicated in viral infection and antiviral response. Expression of long non-coding RNAs in a virus-infected cell is stimulated by the virus, and these RNAs are used by the virus to increase replication. Similarly, the infected cell results in the expression of long non-coding RNAs that protect the cell against viral infection. In this study, relationship between viral infections and lncRNAs, which are thought to play an important role in disease progression, diagnosis and treatment of viral infections in recent years, has been reviewed. In recent years, for combating viral infections, it is thought that long non-coding RNAs, which are thought to be effective in the prognosis of the disease, may be identified as therapeutic biomarkers.
