Özet: The number of patients with a diagnosis of dementia is increasing in all counttries with the aging of the population but especially in developed ones. The elderly population has also been increasing in size in Turkey. For this reason, in our country in the near future is expected to increase the risk of dementia seen. One of the most important public health problems of dementia in the elderly is a common, chronic and usually progressive reduction in the memory and intellectual capacity, memory, speech, perception, calculation, orientation, judgment, abstract thinking and problem solving, cognitive disorder, characterized in that at least two of the functions a table. Although there is no definitive treatment to reduce the symptoms of dementia, is a symptomatic treatment. The goal of treatment of dementia: a focus on memory and cognitive symptoms, cognitive symptoms, to ensure well-being, cognitive symptoms, without favor, stop, or slow down the disease process. Patients with drug treatment and supportive interventions are used. In this review, about dementia and dementia care when patients are given approaches will lead to nurse.
