Özet: Aim: Recurrence after Morgagni hernia repair is a serious problem. In this study, we wanted to present our new method used for repair of morgagnia hernia in the light of the literature. Material and Methods: Between January 2010 and December 2019, 14 patients with Morgagni hernia were operated in our department. Patients were evaluated retrospectively regarding age, sex, symptoms at admission, diagnostic methods, treatment and outcomes. Results: 6 of the patients were female and 8 were male. Mean age was 48 years (17-64 years). Hernias were located on the right side in all patients. Herniated organs were: omentum and colon in 5 patients, only omentum in 9 patients. Mean hospital stay was 5.7 days. There were no mortalities observed. Recurrence was detected in 2 of all patients during follow-up. We used our new method of extracorporeal suturing in 4 patients. We did not detect recurrence in any of these patients. Conclusion: As a result, we think that extracorporeal sutures will be beneficial in preventing recurrence in addition to primary repair of the defect in the repair of Morgagni hernias. This method should be kept in mind especially in children with Down syndrome and adult obese patients.
