Özet: The purpose of this study was the predictive of general health based on the assertiveness and coping skills in the asthmatic patients. Participants were asthmatic patients who referred to several of the lung respiratory disease centers in Shiraz, Iran, in 2013; 181 participants (83 males and 98 females). The samples were selected through at hand sampling method and evaluated using the Ratus Assertiveness Questionnaire, Parker and Andler-Coping Style Questionnaire (CISS), and Goldberg general Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28). Data obtained using regression techniques were compared by uni-variate and multivariate regression. Asthmatic patients with higher assertiveness had more public health, and patients with a higher assertiveness had lower somatic symptoms and social dysfunction. Patients who used problem-oriented coping method enjoyed more health. General health of patients was predicted by the problem-oriented coping variable. The results show that changes in the general health of patients by assertiveness variable are predictable. It was also found that the model can be generalized to the asthmatic population.
