Özet: The object of study was Redykajny lake (area 29.9 ha, max depth 21.5 m), localized in the Mazurian Lake District, in the northern part of Olsztyn city (Poland). The undisturbed sediment cores were taken using Kajak bottom sampler at three stations localized in the littoral (one station) and profundal (two stations) zones in the all seasons of a lacustrine year. The upper 10-cm thick sediment layer from every core was divided into two, 5-cm thick parts. The sequential phosphorus extraction was carried out in the sediment samples according to van Hullebush et al. (2003) method. The obtained results showed that in the both investigated lake zones quantitatively main fraction of sedimentary phosphorus was NaOH-nrP (phosphorus bound with organic matter). The hardly mobile fractions (NaOH-nrP, HCl-P) and unbioavailable res-P fraction included the most of total phosphorus amount. Easily mobile fractions such as NH4Cl-P and BD-P occurred in the small amounts. The quantitative domination of hardly mobile P fractions confirms the fact that Redykajny lake sediment has natural good sorption capacity of P and it can positive influence on the internal loading phenomenon inhibition in the lake.
