Özet: Architectural design is a problem-solving activity that requires understanding diverse user needs and designing environments/spaces and products that are accessible to all user groups. The term ‘Design for All’ (DfA) ensures that environment/spaces and products are accessible to users of all ages, sizes and abilities in different situations and under different circumstances. Although DfA is a critical approach to architectural design; information gained through courses is not integrated into the design projects of the design education. As a result, students are unaware of the requirements and differences of potential user groups when designing their projects. This study is designed to assess students’ attitudes towards the DfA approach and their ability to integrate the DfA approach into their design projects. It is conducted by interviewing 30 interior architecture students studying at Çankaya University, Ankara, Turkey. The results of the study indicated that students are unable to integrate the DfA approach into the design projects and they do not consider it as a part of the design education. The DfA approach has to be emphasized as a fundamental and inseparable aspect of the design education. In addition, students need to be encouraged to consider the DfA approach in different courses of the design education.
