Özet: In this study, a cost-effective two-axis CNC lathe workbench was designed and manufactured as a prototype in order to be used for training purposes at vocational and technical schools. The workbench is at 950, 600, 500 mm (X, Y, Z) exterior dimensions, it can process the cylindrical pieces of  30 mm in diameter and 150 mm in lenght at most. The workbench frame was manufactured by joining cast polyamide materials of 27 mm in thickness with bolts. The workbench frame was also encircled with a cabin composed of 25x25 square profiles, increasing the labor security of the staff and students working on the bench.  On the workbench axis, threaded rods, ball nuts and linear roller bearings were used. Necessary electronic hardware was designed and manufactured in order to control the workbench axis movements and spindle speed through computer screen. Mach3 was preferred as control software. Processing parameters and commands for the workbench are entered via computer screen. The control panel on the workbench manually enables the execution of Spindle Speed Controls, Energy Start-Stop, Emergency Stop and Tailstock Movement and Cooling Liquid On-Off functions.  Because the workbench was designed for training purposes, a webcam was connected to the system to be able to monitor the process on the computer screen. A cooling liquid system was also installed on the workbench.
