Özet: The purpose of this research was to investigate usage of cell phones among girls and boys students at high school in the city of Bandar Abbas (Iran). The assessments in this survey has been carried out by descriptive and analytic methods in which a sample population of 1052 ( 536 females and 516 males ) were selected by using cluster and random sampling from 14 high schools. The instruments for this survey consisted of a demographic questionnaire and a researcher devised questionnaire for the cell phone usage. The findings of this survey revealed that 97.6% of the students had their own cell phones. The girls outnumbered boys in possessing mobile phones as well they had the phones much earlier than the boys. The earliest age for having phone cell was 9 years and the latest was 17 years and the mean age was 14.11 years. About 50% of the students had two lines or more and female students cell phone use was more than male. The findings of this study show that participants would utilize text messaging more than voice calls in contact their friends and family members, and male students to talk more often than female , and female more than male participants using text messaging.
