Overriding selection criteria for library softwares in National libraries: librarians' point of view

Özet:   The present study investigates overriding similar criteria of selecting library integrated softwares from National libraries’ professionals’ standpoint. Survey research method was used and the data was collected by a semi-structured interview. At first, the name of purchased library software, the most popular software, and their features is presented and then by content analysis, the similar selection priorities are presented. Moreover, the overriding similar criteria to select National library software are discovered. Findings showed that cost, time, flexibility of software, modularity, acceptance of MARC format, support various kind of standard, Scalability, training, user friendly, technical support, 24 hour support are the similar selection criteria for library softwares. The results of this research can be usable to make international integrated softwares and open source software for National libraries.
