Özet: IEEE 802.11 is the most common wireless protocol beyond debate. It is being used in almost every part of our lives, from home security systems to cell phones, on a wide variety of devices and diverse application domains. Naturally, this widespread usage is subject to criminal activity. Recently, many researchers focus on the 802.11 based wireless networking environment from a forensics computing perspective. In this paper, we discuss the potential criminal activities’ sources of evidences in a forensic investigation. We have identified various forms of misuse that may not be detected by current procedures that are performed in after event analysis. Our findings also indicate that there is a lack of procedures and tools – both in quantity and capability – for forensics investigations in current state of industrial practices and standards. Finally, we propose a number of good practices in order to fill in the gap which we defined and to mitigate the impacts of potential criminal activities.
