Özet: The stability of the Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) document is the most important factor for the success of a software project. However the SRS phase is, especially in the small and medium enterprises (SME) community, still one of the weakest areas of the system development life cycle (SDLC). One of the primary reasons of this situation is that SMEs are stressed by the time-to-market and do not have enough resources for establishing rigorous methods for the SRS. This paper discusses IEEE defined SRS attribute (IEEE-STD-830-1998) to quantitatively measure a SRS document. A survey is conducted to get the feedback from software industry of Pakistan about IEEE attributes with the objective to know that how software development professionals rank them (IEEE attributes) according to importance. This paper will set a standard for software industry of Pakistan with acceptable values of IEEE attributes derived from the responses of software industry to develop a stable SRS to achieve quality in software development.
