Özet: This paper proposes a web framework addressing the distance learning scenario. It consists of web-based course-authoring and a distance learning management system. The purpose of this work is to set up an effective environment for learning. The distance learning platform is implemented in the form of common client/server web application with three participants. The administrator manages the web-server using Internet Information Services (IIS 7.0) manager to connect to web server, Active Server Pages (ASP) script files to control the system, and SQL server 2008 for the database system to manage all data. The database represents the core of the system, which comprises users’ management database and courses databases. The instructor uses the web browser to access the web server to achieve main functions that are permitted by the distance learning system administrator. The learner accesses the teaching contents through the web browser. The system architecture is based on 3-Tier client-server architecture allowing natural improvement on features, such as, accessibility, reusability, and scalability. The proposed system has been deployed successfully in more than one scenario as remote site education and local classroom enhancement.
