Özet: In object-oriented programs, classes are the basic units and they are composed of a set of methods and attributes. Class cohesion is an object-oriented software internal key quality attribute, and it refers to the degree of relatedness of the methods and attributes of the class. A practical cohesion metric is the one that can differentiate between classes that intuitively have different cohesion degrees. We refer to this ability of differentiation as the discriminative power. Several class cohesion metrics are proposed in the literature and their discriminative powers are also explored using simulation study. The opinions of the software developers and project managers were not accounted for in the study. In this paper, we reported a survey study that considers the opinions of the software practitioners about the discriminative powers of several class cohesion metrics. The results show that the simulation and the survey results match regarding the best cohesion metric in terms of its discriminative power.
