Özet:   Nowadays, there are many different solutions used in digital design devoted courses. However, most of them do not support graphical user interface and each of them brings a new environment that the students should familiarize themselves with before the actual work. Thus, if several different tools are used through the digital design courses there is a considerable waste of time dedicated to learning the various environments.  In this work a tool is presented improving students’ understanding in logic circuit design and system design that supports various kinds of model representations including Petri nets and finite state machines. For each kind of representation the international file formats standards are used like BLIF, PNML, and KISS so the students can see the relation between the text notation and graphical representation of the circuit, Petri net or finite state machine. This is just one of the interesting features. The main advantage resides in the fact that the tool can be easily extended adding new plug-ins that can be focused for example on logic circuits optimization or reduction methods. The plug-ins are independent on each other and the basic interface is used to communicate with the tool core. The plug-in architecture enables also the well-known academic software (e.g. SIS, Espresso etc.) reuse by simply creating a plug-in that will use the specific functions of the selected software. Thus, the already invented functions (e.g. a conversion among BLIF, SLIF, PLA formats, etc.) do not have to be programmed again. Currently there is the logic circuits graphical editor integrated in the tool core and the plug-ins supporting the transformations among various representations.
