Özet:   Most of the engineering education programs lead its students to the specific specialty areas of related discipline after completion of the compulsory-courses period. However, the areas in which the students decide are mostly defined by their consultants, without considering other factors, like students’ familiarity and willingness to work in that area, or environmental factors, such as required level of graduates for the future period. This causes undesired results like forcing students to work in areas which they do not want, or working in unrelated areas without need to use their diplomas, as well as being unemployed because of the high level of same discipline graduates, or even termination of their education. For these reasons, a system not only takes main domain courses period success rate but also takes their pre-university term and personal interests could be useful. For that reason also the environmental factors are needed to be taken into consideration. Accordingly, in this study, a three layer meta-knowledge management model will be included for building a self-learning fuzzy-neural network based knowledge management system as a proposed system for the engineering students’ specialty area selection.
