Özet: In the stage of development in which institutions have branches distributed over a wide geographic area, distributed database systems become more appropriate to use, because they offer a higher degree of flexibility and adaptability then centralized ones. The fragmentation in a distributed database management system increases the level of concurrency and therefore optimize system throughput for query processing. In this paper I have described the rules that must be followed when implementing database vertical fragmentation in order to ensure that the database does not change semantic during fragmentation, ie, ensure consistency of the database. In addition, I have presented a case study, E-learning portal performance optimization by using vertical fragmentation in Oracle distributed database technology.
