Özet: The distributed systems appeared as a necessity, especially for the institutions with geographically distributed offices and users that have various, interactive activities that require large processing capabilities, resource sharing and high availability. In this paper I analyzed the data allocation problem in correlation with data fragmentation. In addition, I presented the criteria that lead to the right decision for the data allocation in a distributed database, I described a model for data allocation and I analyzed the available methods and strategies of data allocation for minimizing costs and maximizing performance.
