Özet: Educators seek alternative ways to make mathematics education more meaningful. The objective of this study was to conduct a survey on teaching practices employing educational software and software assessment methodologies used by mathematics educators at some of the best schools in Brazil. The study was carried out at eleven middle schools with ties to Brazilian public universities. Data was collected by means of electronic questionnaires sent via e-mail to teachers of 6th to 9th grade mathematics. Twenty-two types of educational software for teaching mathematics were in use. None of the teachers mentioned using assessment methodologies in the selection of educational software.
