Özet: This study focuses on “A comparative analysis of the factors affecting e-commerce adoption in local and foreign banks: A Case of the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. The study is based on 10 banks in Zambia, that is 5 locally-owned and 5 foreign owned banks. It has been observed that while most foreign banks have recognized the need and have changed their business processes to conform to changing business trends in order to keep up with competition, locally-owned banks are still lagging behind. The idea of the study was conceived based on the fact that with rapidly advancing technologies that are occurring in modern business, organizations, and in this case, banks, are required to be ready, and able to adapt within their ever-changing environment. Businesses are always looking for ways to improve their products and services deliveries and yet it has been seen that the locally-owned banks in Zambia are not using as many e-commerce applications as the foreign owned banks. This in turn means that they are not able to compete favorably and are slow to adapt to the dynamic environment that they operate in, thus leading to the hypothesis that the study wanted to prove: LOCALLY-OWNED BANKS ARE NOT USING AS MANY E-COMMERCE APPLICATIONS AS FOREIGN-OWNED BANKS.
