Özet: This review article seeks to identify the common terms and infrastructures of health information technology. Health information technology is a broad term that is commonly used to describe the use of computers and electronic applications in providing and documenting medical care. Common terms can be organized in two main groups including; health record terms as: EMR, EHR, PHR as well as; CPOE, CDS, CPR, PCR, CMR, DMR, ICRS, PMRI and e-prescribing, and network terms, as: HIE, HIO and RHIO. All of these aspects should help to drastically reduce physician errors, enhance patient care, and therefore improve the populations overall state of health.
