Özet: In this paper, “Case Based Reasoning” (CBR) and “GIS” are used to build a “Case Based Model” (CBM) for information retrieval and knowledge representation. The goals of this study are (1) to demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of CBR technique, (2) to combine knowledge inference capability of CBR with analytical, management and visualization capability of GIS within a hybrid model, (3) to examine whether CBR technique and CBM could benefit the city planning process. Proposed experimental system tries to process tabular data and link the inference to spatial data. Hence, domain dependent similarity matching matrices are utilized and a customized GUI is developed for enhanced knowledge retrieval and representation. The case of Çe?me, Izmir, Turkey is provided for comprehending the aim of the research. While the benefits of CBM are presented, both advantages and limitations have been realized from findings when applied to the complex domain such as city planning.
