Özet: This study present a recognition system using discrete cosine transform (DCT) and autoregressive (AR) signal modeling for palmprint authentication. As a biometric, a palmprint provides several advantages such as stable line features, low-resolution imaging and low-cost capturing device. The DCT is widely used to calculate frequency components in image processing because it describes completely an image in frequency domain avoiding complex arithmetic. After the calculation of frequency components, AR parametric modeling method is applied the coefficients to establish a feature vector representing the image. The experimental results demonstrate that a small number of AR parameters modeling the DCT of a palmprint is sufficient for building an accurate system for authentication.
