Özet: Water distribution networks are one of the most important infrastructure system in the cities. The design and maintenance of these systems are complex in means of hydraulics. The maintenance of the hydraulic system in big cities are more complex and problematic. To use the network in full efficiency, the water network must be designed in maintained in an optimum way. Amount of drinking and potable water in the world is very limited. The water networks have always leaks. Therefore, to reduce the water loses and control the network, a continuous monitoring system must be built and applied. In this study, the water losses in Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality was examined in details. The water network has six pressure zones which are divided into 29 sub zones. In these zones, flow meters and pressure loggers are installed, a SCADA system was built and a comprehensive GIS studies were done. Customer Information System was also linked to the GIS and SCADA systems, and a mathematical model was built for examining the water losses.
