Özet: The use of standard SNMP protocol is inappropriate to be used for Personal Area Network (PAN) as normally PAN is formed by collection of constrained devices that have low MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) capability (e.g. IEEE 802.15.4). Therefore, the direct use of SNMP does not suit such devices. The aim of this paper is to highlight approaches and network implementation setup to enable managing constrained personal area network using SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). It is highlighted in this paper that by introducing an SNMP mediator module for PAN gateway and by reducing size of SNMP message the PAN network can be managed using SNMP.
