ICT as a motivational factor in the teaching of English at elementary schools

Özet: At present, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are an inseparable part of any human activity. They also play an important part in the process of education. In fact, they are used across curricula and across the whole system of education in the Czech Republic. Obviously, they are exploited most in tertiary education since they are a very useful and a cheaper tool, particularly for distance learning. Nevertheless, they are also used in some subjects at elementary schools in order to create an authentic environment. This is, for example, true for the teaching of English. At some elementary schools in the city of Hradec Kralove and its surroundings in the Czech Republic, teachers introduced in their conversation classes videoconferences with teachers from abroad, in this case from the Philippines. The article discusses this project and highlights its benefits.
