Özet: In this paper, we propose the use of a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for tuning typical fuzzy PID (FPID) controllers. The method is used to minimize a Square Error (SE) fitness function which quantifies the step response of the control system performance. The considered typical FPID controllers are characterized by simple and interpretable structure. Thus, the proposed PSO method exploits all the available knowledge about the system under control which reduces the searching time. A simulation example is presented to show the efficiency of the method.
