Özet: IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is 3GPP standardized next generation service delivery platform and it is common architecture to provide multimedia services. IMS is divided in Security Domains – that is networks that are managed by a single administrative authority. The border between the security domains is protected by Security Gateways (SEGs). SEGs are entities on the borders of the IP security domains, these entities are responsible for enforcing security policy and all traffic shall pass through a SEG before entering and leaving the security domain. However, several disadvantages and vulnerabilities are covered during the recent years. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) can identify attacks form network packets and can be an important addition to the security infrastructure. This research article shows the main components to build IMS compatible gateway using open source software capabilities, with integrated IDS functionality. The research also provides SEGs impact on traffic processing.
