Özet: The Intrusion detection system (IDS) is considered as an important part in any modern network to detect any suspicious attacks. The IDS is depending on the string matching algorithm to identify any attacks that appear, but as the modern networks are expanding and running in high speed, it becomes very difficult for the IDS that running in a single processor to handle all network traffics without losing any security issue. By taking advantages of parallel technology, the IDS can be able to overcome these problems. In this paper, we introduce a new multi-core based hybrid string matching algorithm design which is adapted to work in the high speed networks. This design can match large number of incoming packets with the rule polices by distributing the workload among the components of the hybrid algorithm. The experiment shows that the hybrid algorithm design can be work very fast in high speed networks.
