Özet: Multimedia is getting more and more popular rapidly and this is because of the rapid advancement in capturing, storage, transmission and processing technologies. This made huge collection of multimedia data available with us locally as well as online one the internet but most of these are unorganized and scattered. Lot of work is done in different areas of multimedia especially in video processing where shot detection is the mosth importat and basic step. Shot is a group of frames sharing some spatial features captured by a single camera action. Difference in the value of various features can be used to identify boundary between two shots however different video mixing techniques (fading-in, fading-out and other translation effects) makes the task more difficult. Lot of work is done in this domain but no single solution can solve the problem completely. In this paper a different method is proposed that uses motion information in video to detect shots boundaries ny dividinmg frames in sub-blocks. This method detect all type of shot transition and also consider the locality information that are usually missed in many methods proposed so far.
