Özet: In the now-a-days financial instability and sharp competition that best describes the worldwide business environment, every company regardless its size, is continuously interested to analyze its financial and accounting performance, the forthcoming threats and the overall enterprise standing as a manner for developing future strategies. The intelligent technologies are well known for their main characteristic as inferring recommendations, advices and decisions with an accuracy and quality similar to that of human experts. The current software applications allow not only integration with any database and software environment but also web hosting, making the application worldwide accessible and even allowing it to be available on demand, based on the software-as-a-service model. Therefore, the current paper intends to illustrate with examples the opportunities offered by the intelligent technologies for the financial and accounting software. The research presents examples of online computer-based systems that are performing: (1) economic and financial analysis using specific ratios according to the Romanian accounting system and (2) comparative analysis using Romanian and international bankruptcy prediction models which analyze and give further direction to a small or medium-sized enterprise. The innovative feature of the proposed applications is the software development by combining three technologies: web, spreadsheet/database and expert systems.
