Özet: Visual search and information retrieval are the most essential tasks on the Web. The question arises: can the influence of the design be extended on information retrieval and visual search? Many researches examine the effect of style parameters such as font size, font type, line length, line height, text align, background- and font color. Several researches were dedicated to each parameter, but there were not any researches to consider how the efficiency of visual search and information retrieval can be increased with common properties.The goal of the paper on the one hand is to examine which combinations of these style parameters can help the users to understand the information on the display. On the other hand, to give design recommendations on the strength of results of the research. As the summary of the results indicates, font type Times New Roman, should be used when information is presented that needs to be understood. Larger font size is not definitely better than the smaller font size, although participants preferred them. In the case of line length, 70%, or rather 90% of the display should be used when information is presented that needs to be understood, whereas users preferred each line length in an equal proportion. If more than one column is used, three columns should be used. Participants preferred larger line height, as previous researches have indicated. In the course of information retrieval tasks, there was not significant difference in case of line height.
