Özet: From the industrialisation point of view, automation represents the subsequent step just after the mechanisation. Automation is based on the application of several methods, techniques, or approaches, which are dedicated to control of industrial devices, processes and mechanisms. Visualisation can be included in the list, since it is grounded in graphic representation of enormous volume of data. It enables everyone involved in the automation process to enhance the perception and consequently understanding. For these reasons, this paper deals with suggestions of general requirements for software application enabling visualisation in automation. These requirements are applied by two selected systems, namely WinCC and Intouch. The comparative analysis of visualisation systems is based on several criteria such as time needed for installation, variability of available tools, communication tools such as tags, graphic interface, scripts, cross references or security issues. Acquired results are discussed and further system development is suggested at the general level.
