Özet: Hollowed parts are mainly made by machining. That manufacturing method is very time and material consuming. Better effectiveness and product properties are obtained thanks to applying metal forming method. This paper presents an innovatory process of metal forming of a flange in hollowed products. This method is based on metal extrusion with the application of a moveable sleeve, which prevents a semi-finished product buckling. The discussed way of the flange extrusion was analyzed basing on results of numerical analysis made in software DEFORM-3D. Thermo-mechanical model of the process was considered. Calculations were made assuming three-dimensional state of strain. Material model of titanium alloy Ti6Al4V from the software library were applied. It was assumed in calculations that the material heating temperature was 950°C, tools temperature equaled 300°C. Friction conditions between tools and formed material were described by model of constant friction. Progression of the flange shape at particular stages of forming, temperature distribution in material and process force parameters were provided. On the basis of theoretical research, conditions determining the process stability and limiting phenomena were given. These phenomena include: buckling, possibility of overlapping presence, not filling of die impression and cracks. Theoretical verification confirmed the effectiveness of this new method of good quality hollowed products with flanges forming.
