Özet: In the past decade, with the accelerated research and development in Internet and related technologies, virtualization has gained a renewed appeal in the IT professions. Phrases such as virtualized desktops, virtualized storage, virtualized networks, and even virtualized data centers, have become the new buzzwords of the recent years. Very often virtualization is mixed with clouds or cloud computing in technical discussions and IT literatures, causing confusions among IT professionals. The focus of this paper is twofold: First we provide a survey of virtualization and related technologies, including virtualized networks and virtualized data centers. The objective is to provide common definitions and a survey of leading providers of those technologies. The second focus of the paper is analysis of application scenarios of virtualized data centers using the OpenStack platform. Each scenario is analyzed in detail, in terms of required resources (hardware, software, networking, etc.), system configurations, and example computer applications suitable for adopting the scenario.
