The Professional Development Needs of art Teachers in Five Specific Areas

Özet: This research analyses the professional development needs of art teachers in five specific areas:  planning lessons; evaluating teaching; applying techniques and methods; producing materials for teaching and activities and; managing. These five areas are based on essential teaching requirements.  With the aim of gathering data, research was conducted in Northern Cyprus in government secondary, high and vocational schools, including the vocational schools affiliated to the Ministry of Education. The participant sample consisted of 18 male and 36 female art teachers. Considering the data gathered in this research, it would appear that, there are a significant number of teachers that are having difficulties in the five areas that this study covers.
