Male and Female Undergraduates Perceptions of Integration and Interaction: Optimism versus Pessimism

Özet: This study examines undergraduate students’ perceptions of interaction with regards to gender.  The study sits within the quantitative paradigm and offers a holistic analysis of student integration in which the complexity of integration was revealed through the inter-relations of gender. Two public universities in two big cities were chosen as the sample. These universities had common characteristics with regards to faculties, number of students, year of foundation and physical standards. Gender differences in integration noted by 3500 students constituted the sample group. The young male and females who comprised the sample for this study, which was expected to represent an undergraduate population that might be found at any large public university at a developing country. Results showed that students had integration and interaction concerns in general in public universities in the sample group. However females were significantly higher on communication related dimensions.
