Özet: Call for papers special issue (2011 March): New trends and issue in sciences education   Special issue guest editors Iztok Devetak (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) Janez Vogrinc (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)     Science education faces difficult times especially because students are not motivated for learning science and technologies. It is important for the researchers to develop and evaluate such teaching and learning approaches that facilitate student's more in-depth understanding of science concepts.   The aim of this special issue of Cypriot Journal of Educational Sciences (CJES) is to cover various aspects of innovation in learning and teaching science in the context of developing students' in-depth understanding of science concepts at all levels of education; from kindergarten to university. All over the world science educators and researchers try to encourage students to study science, but it is obvious that the motivation for learning science and attitude towards science is not improving as we all want. Researchers also have doubt that teachers implement research results and modern educational strategies that are developed according to the research, into their practice. It is obvious that we all have to motivate/educate teachers in the first place to make their courses interesting for students. Only when students feel that they will have some benefit learning specific material they will learn it good and they will try to understand it more in-depth. Such understanding of science concepts can lead students to the further developing of their knowledge and scientific literacy as it is an important aspect of a well educated citizen.   This special issue of CJES welcomes original ideas, along with supporting design and validation, in following areas (and other areas within the scope): Innovations in science, biology, chemistry and physics education regarding at different levels of education. Using multimedia in learning and teaching science, biology, chemistry and physics. Innovations in specific context awareness and situated learning design in science, biology, chemistry and physics education. Pedagogical strategy-enhanced learning application design in science, biology, chemistry and physics. Innovations in collaborative and socially networked learning in science, biology, chemistry and physics. Innovations in methodologies for science, biology, chemistry and physics education research. Facilitating motivation and positive attitude towards science, biology, chemistry and physics learning. Innovations in pre-service and in-service science, biology, chemistry and physics teachers' education to facilitate their professional development regarding research implementation into their teaching. Using informal (museums, ZOOs, aquariums, botanic gardens, industry, research institutes, field work ...) science, biology, chemistry and physics education to develop students' scientific literacy. Integrating innovative laboratory work and other practical activities into the science, biology, chemistry and physics teaching and learning.   Special issue guest editors Iztok Devetak (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) Janez Vogrinc (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)   Important dates Submissions due: 15 October 2010 First decision: 25 November 2010 Revised manuscripts due: 30 December 2010 Feedback on revised manuscripts: 15 February 2011 Final manuscript due: 28 February 2011     Submission guideline The manuscripts should be original, unpublished, and not in consideration for publication elsewhere at the time of submission to Cypriot Journal of Educational Sciences and during the review process.
