Özet: In this review, DNA barcoding, which is the most commonly used molecular tool in biological identifications, was discussed in everyrespect. Difference of DNA barcoding from other molecular tools, the main reasons of using cytochrome oxidase c subunit I was giventogether with application and work flow of this approach. While explaining DNA barcoding, the difficulties encountered during applicationwas also discussed under several subtitles within the scope of this review. Finally, the most contentious issue of relationship between DNAbarcoding, phylogeny and population genetics was tried to be clarified along with suggestions related to subject.
