Özet: Sakarya Region, thanks to its favorable climatic conditions and soil properties, can be described as an area of genetic resources and an areaof geographical expansion for outdoor ornamental plants. Furthermore, advantages such as geographic location of the area; proximity to bigcities such as Ankara, Istanbul and Bursa; ease of transportation; proximity of the area to the markets of Caucasus and the Middle East Region;and existence and use of appropriate land and cheap labor constitutes a distinct advantages for growing commercial outdoor ornamental plantsin Sakarya. Because of those advantages, most of the plant species which are grown abroad anda re used frequently in landscape applicationsstarted to be grown successfully in Sakarya. Due to this development plants, which were imported from abroad with high costs ten yearsago, started to be grown and to be exported successfully. Thanks to the projects carried out in the region over the past decade, the number ofenterprises and volüme of production increased 6-7 times and 10-12-times respectively. By means of academic researches; organizationof producers; finding solutions to the problems encountered in the production and marketing; Sakarya Region has a potential to become animportant outdoor ornamental plant center for our country and for the whole Europe in a near future.
