Özet: The day that there are human beings until today, they have benefited from around living and non-living natural resources especially plants for purpose of food, disease treatment, instruments and equipment, manufacturing, etc. When examined archaeological findings of ancient times,people primarily benefit from the plant for food supply and therapeutic purposes. In this regard, the people experiences gained through trial and error use of plants, reaching up to the present changes and developments in the way, as a result of the relationship established between the plants with this until the people of the century led to the birth of ethnobotany science. Ethnobotany is a scientific study that describes the complex interactions and relations in the areas, existing relationship between people and plants, uses of plant species, perception (used) of cultures and human societies. These studies provides information about the links between other cultures and living with it is used and how the name of plants. Ethnobotanical studies are very important in terms of cultural heritage and make this information permanently reaching transferred from generation to generation until today. However, several features of plants and plant use areas and local-regional features to be transferred to future generations of information have come to a standstill phase. Therefore, the information belongs to our country with a rich cultural heritage in terms of ethnobotany be written as soon as the obligation arises. This requirement of plants which have both in terms of features and culturalheritage is material to the country’s economy. As a result of ethnobotanical studies, which can be utilized in areas which were identified as a result of recycling plants and made the information received from the public to contribute to the country’s economy with production. In this study, importance of ethnobotanical study and historical development of ethnobotanical studies intended to present the contribution to and the importance of the subject and made the necessary literature are highlighted the work done so since ancient times.
