Özet: Entomopathogenic nematodes (Heterorhabditidae and Steinernematidae) are widely used in biological controlof insect pests. These nematodes are characterized by their mutualistic relationship with symbiotic bacteria. The bacterialsymbionts are carried throughout the whole intestine of infective juveniles in Heterorhabditidae or in a special vesicle ininfective juvenils in Steinernematidae. The nematodes provide protection and transportation for their bacterial symbionts. Thebacterial symbionts in turn kill the host and establish and maintain suitable conditions for nematode reproduction, providingnutrients and antimicrobial substances that inhibit the growth of other microorganisms. In this article, the relation between theentomopathogenic nematodes and their symbiotic bacteria and also the possibilities of the utility of these entomopathogenicnematodes&symbiotic bacteria complexes in agricultural pest management have been discussed.
