Özet: It has always been an important process for students to decide which university and department to study. Unconscious choices were commonly seen in the past. But as time goes by, more conscious choices are seen and this can be related to the development in technology. The contribution of faster internet, phones and social network is obvious. The most important criterion of this process is the exam score. The other criterions are; prestige of the university, financial support, accommodation, academic staff, campus life and social facilities, city life, location of the university, educational expectations, academic prestige, ease at finding a job, friends, news about the university and the distance to hometown. In our study we analyzed the students who gained right to study medicine at medical faculty in years between 2016 and 2018 with the information from www.yokatlas.gov.tr. The subjects of our analysis were; gender, geographical distribution, preference order, exam score, percentile, characteristics of the high school that the students graduated from, quotas, success and school characteristics of students who are out of quota, hometowns of the students, highest and the lowest points of the schools, educational status (is it their first or second year they succeeded), the characteristics of the student with lowest score, total number of enrolled students, distribution of classes, number of foreign students who chose the faculty and the countries they come from, number of the students from exchange programmes, total number of students who chose the faculty and their ranking, their preference ranking, their preference leanings and the programmes they chose.
