Özet: The Sanjak of Vılçıtrın, which had an important position on the territory of Rumelia, was in the Central Balkans, north of the Kosovo plains. The region is bordered on the north by Alacahisar, on the west by Herzegovina and İpek, on the south by Prizren and Skopje, and on the east by Paşa Sanjak. In the region, where the Sanjak of Vılçıtrın was in the XVI. Century, today, there are the cities of Mitroviça, Vılçıtrın, Pristina, Yanova, Dardane (Kamaniçe), Gilan and Ferizay from the north to the south. This area is surrounded by Rogozne and Kopaonik mountains to the north and Zhar and Karadak Mountains to the south. Throughout history, the region was taken under the domination of the Eastern Roman Empire, the Bulgarian and Serbian kingdoms, and then, the Ottoman rule. The transition process that started with the Kosovo War of 1389 took a long time as a result of the political developments and ended in 1455 with the II. Serbia campaign of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror. In this article, the conquest of Vılçıtrın region and its place in the administrative organization of Rumelia are mentioned.
