Özet: Almighty Allah has sent the religion of Islam to all humanity. Subsequently, people of different ethnicities, colors, and regions turned to this new religion en masse and adopted it as their belief. The Kurds have taken their place among the societies that adhere to this new religion, defend it, fight for it, and hold tightly to its principles and values. It is known that different schools of Fiqh (Islamic Law) with various views emerged in the early ages of Islam, especially in the second century of the Islamic calendar. Over time, these schools evolved into independent sects. These denominations are divided into four main schools of jurisprudence, namely, Hanafi, Maliki, Shafii, and Hanbali. One of these jurisprudence sects is the Shafii sect, which represents the views of the Ahl al-Ray vs. Ahl al-Hadith schools together and Muhammad b. Idris is the imam. The Shafii sect has become widespread in the regions where Kurds are densely populated, and due to this prevalence, the name Kurdish is constantly referred to with this sect in classical historical sources. The Shafii sect has also turned into a characteristic symbol for the Kurdish people. Whether in the home of the Kurds or outside of the Kurdish regions, Kurdish scholars have served greatly in the spread of the Shafii sect. In this study, it is discussed in all aspects why only the Shafii sect has spread among the Sunni sects in the Kurdish regions, what is the role of the Kurdish scholars in the spread of this sect, and what are the underlying factors behind the Kurds' adoption of the Shafii sect.
