Özet: Meaning is not just one of the main subjects of literature, but many disciplines. Meaning, which enters into the study area of many disciplines such as logic, philosophy, sociology and psychology, has not entered into the boundaries of a frame that has achieved certainty. Thus, it has been taken as a basic problematic and scrutinized within the scope of different approaches. Meaning, which has maintained its place as a significant problematic especially in the literary context, has been taken as an extensive issue in the poetic mediation. The poetry’s problematic of meaning has been scrutinized by different theories and critical understandings, however, it has not been rendered a universal characteristic. Although meaning is one of the elements that form poetry, it has been placed into the privileged position as it directly influences all other elements. The problematic of meaning in poetry has become a matter of discussion in the context of many characteristics of poetry such as essence-form, image, reality, language, communitarianism and individualism. The problematic of meaning, which modern Turkish poetry generally approaches by relating the poetry with those elements, has created different results according to the periods and poets. It is necessary to indicate that in the early years of the Turkish Republic, the poets have not drawn a universal frame to the problematic of meaning. However, despite the fact that every poet has moved in the direction of his/her own understanding of meaning, they have pointed out that the poetic meaning could be fulfilled by the intuitional perception. Thus, in any period of modern Turkish poetry, poetry has not defended meaninglessness as a whole and has not given examples of it. If we assume that the words that form the poetry carry a meaning before the poetry and the poetry is composed of those words, poetry that has achieved integrity may not be expected to lack meaning. However, beyond all of these, it is impossible to say that poetry corresponds to a definite meaning and may be presented with a logic whose boundaries were drawn. The poetical meaning, before everything, only resides inside the related poetry and it belongs to the poetry.
