Özet: Tourism has an important place in service sector because it is discussed directly within the context of employment as labour intensive sector. Employment exhibits different outlooks due to its changing structure from past to present, workers, and particularly negative working conditions. Staff recruited in the kitchen in tourism sector has been very much affected with these developments. Labour has been disqualified, cheapened, and trivialized in today’s labour market. This structural transformation was also reflected upon working styles and it turned into such forms as low wage, overtime, deregulation, and black economy in the labour market where flexible working styles are predominant. This situation had negative social, economical, and psychological effects on labour suppliers and it also caused burnout syndrome on the workers in some cases. The study aimed at exploring whether an employee working in the kitchens in hospitality sector, which has an important place in labour market today and draws attention with its recruitment capacity, suffer from burnout syndrome and in-depth interviews were used to identify and examine whether burnout syndrome existed with the kitchen staff. As a result of individual interviews with the kitchen staff working in the kitchen in tourism sector in Marmaris, it was revealed that the staff working in the sector fell into burnout tendency
