Özet: Free zones, legal and administrative arrangements for commercial, financial and economic areas in the territory of the country that are outside the customs area, as well as within the political boundaries of the country, where wider incentives for industrial and commercial activities are recognized and physically separated from other parts of the country. Macroeconomic effects such as new investments, technological transfers, new employment areas and increased exports increase the importance of free trade areas especially for developing countries. Free zones plays an important role on the economic structures of the countries. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the views on macroeconomic effects of the Aegean Free Zone and to analyze its contribution to foreign capital. In accordance with this purpose, general information about macroeconomic effects of free trade areas is given primarily, and then economic position of the Aegean Free Zone is stated. Later the data obtained through qualitative research and in depth interview is used in order to analyse the effects of the Aegean Free Zone on foreign capital in Turkey
