Özet: Studying Turkish as a foreign language involves active "immersion" in the new linguistic and cultural space, familiarity with the specifics of Turkish culture, the mentality of the Turkish people, the specificity of its national character. One of the most effective forms of such "immersion" is the acquaintance with Turkish literature, which accumulates the best spiritual treasures and verbally reproduces the specifics of life of the Turkish people. Based on comparing the material of Turkish prose works and their translations into the Ukrainian language, the vocabulary of the national-cultural color was revealed and possible ways of reproduction of its content by means of the Ukrainian language were analyzed. Particular attention needs to be given to religious vocabulary, honorific forms, words for naming family relationships, diminutives, names of Turkish national dishes and drinks, traditional Turkish clothes, specific catering establishments, language forms and clichés, etc. In addition, one needs to know the rules of linguistic behavior of native-speakers of a foreign language, as well as respective traditions and customs, which largely determine the selection of verbal means. In this regard, the important role is to prepare students for adequate perception of texts. In reproduction, partial or complete loss of national-cultural specificity, generic-type transformations, loss of associative field or the production of new associations that have nothing to do with the source language are possible. This is because the national-cultural component is a constituent part of the specific national-language picture of the world and it does not always have full matches in other national-language pictures of the world. The training of future specialists in the field of translation should involve both a high level command of a foreign language, and profound extralinguistic knowledge, which is the key to adaptation in another linguistic and cultural space.
