Özet: One of the most important subjects that should be emphasized from the basic level in teaching Turkish as a foreign language is to be able to pronounce and write the vowels and consonants in Turkish. This is an important issue in order to eliminate the complexities that may stem from the misunderstanding or miswriting of the letter in Turkish. The aim of this study is to determine in which letters the Syrians have problems about pronouncing and writing the letters in Turkish and to find the solutions for those problems. In the study, both pronouncation and writing problems on Turkish language skills of 70 Syrian students who have learned Turkish as a second languge in Erciyes Temporary Training Center have been evaluated within the scope of the European Union project.In the study, mistakes have been found in the consonants and vowels  which have been effective in gaining the correct meaning to the words based on the exam papers and activity studies of 70 Syrian students at A1 and A2 level; and some recommendations have been given about those mistakes. The data of the study have been obtained from both the exam papers in the evaluation exam applied at the end of the semester to the students for A1 and A2 levels in the 2016-2018 academic year by Erciyes Temporary Training Center and the activity studies applied within the semester. The obtained data have been classified under the main title of the pronunciation and writing problems of letters, pronunciation and spelling problems of the vowels and consonants and pronouncing problems of letters in the word; the sentences and activities that belong to the students have been examined without any changes. At the end of the study, it has been determined that the students have had difficulties while pronouncing and writing some vowels such as ö-ü-e and i. Moreover, it has been determined that the students have had some mistakes in both pronouncing and writing the consonants such as b-p,v-f,ç-ş,g,c and j-ğ. When the mistakes have been examined it has been clear that the students have written the letters in the wrong way and mixed the letters in the same way. Especially in the dictation studies, it has been evaluated that they have written the letters differently. This result can be interpreted as the students do not know and confuse how to pronounce and write the letters.
